• April 17, 2002 - w2.drh.net downtime

  DRH Internet Service Bulletin
  
  This morning our web hosting server w2.drh.net was down as follows:
  
  from: Wed Apr 17 00:13:00 EDT 2002 -- (12:13 AM EDT)
  to:   Wed Apr 17 07:45:00 EDT 2002 -- (07:45 AM EDT)
  
  The server was down for an extended period of time because the monitoring
  system in place failed to alert the staff responsible for the server (me)
  that there was a problem. We are in the process of deploying new software
  for a monitoring system that will not have this problem. This action should
  prevent this kind of problem from happening again.
  
  Impact:
  
  This caused a service interruption to all web and e-mail service of all our
  hosted websites.
  
   * Web service: Web page visitors attempting to visit websites would
  received a "server not found" error.
  
   * E-mail service: Any e-mail that was sent to an e-mail address on this
  server during this time was queued by the sending mail server for later
  delivery. Most of this e-mail should have already come through. No e-mail
  will be lost.
  
  I apologize for this inconvenience. We will make every effort to make sure
  that this does not happen again.

• 24 April 2001 3:04:05 PM - Brief loss of power in our Collocation facilities.
  We have experienced a brief power outage to racks containing our web hosting servers. During routine work in the collocation facility an emergency power off button was hit and power was lost to 3 racks in the colo. Several pieces of equipment were affected, including internal networking structure. Precautions are being taken so this does not happen again. We apologize for this inconvenience.

• Nov-14-2000 - bandwidth problems
  From
  14 Nov 00, 02:25 GMT-0600 to
  14 Nov 00, 03:34 GMT-0600, and then again from
  14 Nov 00, 04:25 GMT-0600 to
  14 Nov 00, 04:34 GMT-0600 all websites were down due to a problem with our upstream provider.

• Aug-8-2000 - router problems
  From 08 Aug 00, 12:45 GMT-0600 to 08 Aug 00, 12:55 GMT-0600 all websites were down due to a router problem with our upstream provider. It was quickly resolved.

• 3-13-2000 - dns server problems
  A Windows 2000 server of one of our clients was incorrectly configured to try to update records in our DNS server, which caused some intermittent problems through the day as we had to restart the DNS server. This is now resolved and we are upgrading to a new version of the DNS server to prevent problems like this again.
