Why you might want to do this.

You may have registered your domain name with another registrar and you wish to now host your website with us. This means that you need to attach the domain name to our servers so that we can administer the technical end of it.

How to attach a networksolutions.com domain name to our servers

To modify a domain name for use with drh.net's servers go to the network solutions website and click on their "make changes" link.

You will be asked some specific information about your web presence provider. This page is here to give you the answers to the questions, so that you can easily register your domain name.

These instructions are supplemental to the instructions provided by network solutions in their registration wizard. Please make sure to read all of their instructions when registering a domain name so that you do it correctly.

(1) Enter your domain name

After clicking on the "make changes" link from the network solutions home page you will be taken to the "make changes" page. The page should look like this:

Here you should enter the domain name that you would like to modify, and click on the "GO!" image.

(2) Choose which kind of changes to make

After entering your domain name, the second make changes page should come up which will look like this:

Click on the top link entitled "Domain Name Registration Agreement". This link is shown in a slightly different color in the screen-shot.

(3) Enter your domain name and e-mail address

This page is the front portal for making specific modifications to your domain name. It will look like this:

Simply enter your e-mail address and domain name as requested and choose to modify the domain registration. Then click the "proceed" button at the bottom of the page.

(4) Make the specific changes to your registration information

This is the page where you enter the modifications to your domain name that you want to be made. It should look like this: (The fields that you are going to change are marked with a blue arrow. They contain the correct values.)

You must make the following changes:

  • Change the "Technical Contact" to the assigned NIC handle "DR865-ORG".

  • Enter the following information in the "name server information" section so that it looks like the example above:

    Required information
    Primary Server Hostname: NS1.DRH.NET
    Primary Server Netaddress: 64.21.76.11
    Secondary Server Hostname: NS2.DRH.NET
    Secondary Server Netaddress: 64.21.76.12

    Optional information
    Secondary Server Hostname: NS3.DRH.NET
    Secondary Server Netaddress: 64.21.76.13

    The rest of the "secondary server hostname" and "secondary server netaddress" fields under "optional information" should be blank, just as they are in the screen-shot above.

(5) Confirmation of e-mail containing changes

This page informs you that your modifications have been e-mailed to you at the e-mail address you provided. You must them e-mail the message you receive back to hostmaster@internic.org for the changes to be started.

This page does not confirm the completion of your changes. You must finish the changes by sending the e-mail they send you back.
