SSL certificates
SSL certificates are sold in conjunction with website hosting and
e-mail consulting services as needed. A SSL certificate is required
for:
- encrypted web traffic (HTTPS)
- encrypted e-mail services (secure POP3, secure IMAP, secure
SMTP). Encryption is highly recommended if you have roaming e-mail
users, so that usernames and passwords are encrypted and your
server remains secure.
Without a SSL certificate, an encrypted services is not really
secure against some important attacks and a warning box will appear
whenever someone tries to access your secure service.
