Here are the details of the fixed price jobs listed on the qmail consulting page.

All of our fixed price installations include:

Qmail installation jobs

Base qmail installation ($180.00)

The base qmail installation package. This has just the basics of what you need to start sending and receiving e-mail through your own e-mail server. See the other packages for other features that can be added.

Includes:

• Installation of qmail to send and receive e-mail to and from the internet
• Installation of software: daemontools, ucspi-tcp, qmail-pop3d, checkpassword, qmail big dns patch, qmail smtp-auth patch, fastforward (optional), dotforward (optional), and qmail-smtpd-viruscan patch (to reject Microsoft executable attachments for basic anti-virus filtering; optional).
• Protocol support: POP3, SMTP and SMTP-AUTH
• A thorough testing of the system.
• One week of support
• A description of changes made and software installed on your system.
• A straight-forward manual for how to use your new qmail system.

Prerequisites:

• A working UNIX installation
• UNIX installation configured with a working DNS server.
• SSH access to root from the w3.drh.net machine
• A working c compilation environment (c compiler, header files, make, etc)
• ftp or wget program to download files, with access through your firewall to www.davideous.com
• Files from a previous attempt at installing qmail may not exist

Add IMAP and web-based e-mail (add $90.00)

Useful for accessing e-mail from multiple locations. You can login from any web browser into your server and see the same messages and folders that you see from your desktop computer. Great for those who frequently travel.

Adds:

• Protocol support: IMAP
• Installation of courier-imap and squirrelmail software.

Additional prerequisites:

• Apache web server installed and functional on machine
• PHP module for apache installed and working.

Add SSL Security (add $90.00 plus SSL certificate cost)

Provides security by encrypting passwords and e-mail between your e-mail client and your e-mail server. This can be important if you have roaming e-mail users.

SSL requires that your server have a secure server certificate signed by a valid certificate authority. If you need a certificate, we can sell one to you for these prices.

Adds:

• Protocol support: SMTPS, POP3S, and the SMTP START-TLS command
• Installation of SSL patch to daemontools and START-TLS patch to qmail-smtpd

Additional prerequisites:

• A SSL certificate or the willingness to use a self-signed certificate. A self-signed certificate will leave some potential security holes open and cause a warning box to pop up in the client whenever you connect to the secure service.

Add Anti-virus filtering (add $100)

Adds anti-virus filtering to qmail. We will either install CLAM, a free anti-virus scanner, or integrate with any supported anti-virus software packages that you have installed.

Adds:

• Support for: anti-virus filtering.
• Installation of CLAM or integration with another supported filter.
• Installation of QMAILQUEUE patch and qmail-scanner

Add Vpopmail user administration (add $60)

Adds a virtual user management tool. This makes it easy to add a large number of e-mail users to the machine and easily manage them. All of the administration will be done through the command line, with reasonably simple commands. (If you want a web-interface, look at vpopmail web tools.)

Adds:

• Support for virtual e-mail users with command-line configuration
• Installation of: vpopmail

Add Vpopmail web tools (add $80)

This adds web-based management of domains and e-mail users to the vpopmail user administration package. Adding new users becomes as simple as pointing and clicking; anyone can do it!

Web-tools adds:

• Support for web-based administration of: adding and removing e-mail users, creating e-mail forwarding and aliases, adding and removing virtual domains, changing user passwords, setting user e-mail quotas, etc.
• Installation of: qmailadmin, vqadmin, ezmlm-idx, and autorespond
• Not supported: ezmlm-idx is a mailing list software package that is installed because it is required by qmailadmin. We do not, however, support creation of mailing lists.

Add SPAM filtering with spamassassin (add $250)

This blocks SPAM before it reaches your e-mail INBOX, saving you the time and hassle of dealing with SPAM.

Spamassassin is a heuristic filter that assigns a SPAM score to each message where the higher the SPAM score the more likely the message is SPAM. The score is generated by matching the e-mail against a list of pre-set rules. For example, a message that says "get rich quick" would get a few points added to its score.

With our custom qmail and spamassassin integration code, each user can set two thresholds to configure their SPAM filtering: if an e-mail's SPAM score is above one threshold the message is bounced back to the sender, and if the e-mail's SPAM score is above a different threshold the e-mail is tagged as SPAM and delivered to the user's INBOX for manual processing. Each user can also whitelist and blacklist specific senders. Users configure their SPAM filtering through the web-based e-mail interface.

Spamassassin usually blocks about 70% of SPAM while blocking a small, but real number of legitimate messages. You must be prepared to have some legitimate messages blocked. If you would like to block more SPAM or have fewer legitimate messages blocked, there are other SPAM filtering technologies that we can recommend.

SPAM filtering with spamassassin adds:

• Support for: SPAM filtering with individual user preferences, and setting of user preferences through the web-based e-mail interface.
• Installation of: spamassassin, and sasql squirrelmail plugin
• Requires: vpopmail and IMAP and web-based e-mail
