Billing Policies
- Payment is required up front for all fixed-price work.
- A reasonable retainer is required for all hourly consulting
work.
- We provide formal invoices by e-mail (and postal mail if requested).
We accept the following payment forms
- VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover
- PayPal – send payments to paypal@drh.net
- Check drawn on a US account.
Account manager
In the online account manager, existing customers can check their
balance, view billing history, enter a new credit card, and update
billing information.
Terms for consulting work
- After the free initial consultation, we charge hourly for all work related to your project. This includes
doing the actual technical work on your server and corresponding/talking
with you about the work, requirements, and/or results. Often talking
about the project is just as important and valuable as the actual work
on your server, and with small projects it is often a large percentage
of the total work.
- The estimate that we give you is simply an estimate: things may
take longer or shorter. We try to estimate high, so that we don't often
go over -- but sometimes unforeseen things come up once we get into the
work. You pay for the time actually spent on your project. If we see that
we are going to go over the estimate, we will let you know as early as
possible, and you can choose to stop work (at which point you still pay
for the time spent up to that point) or proceed with the new estimate.
- You are always in the driver's seat with the time that we spend. Let
us know what you are authorizing us to do and what your expectations
are. We will only do work that you authorize.
- You can always authorize us to spend an hour or two to login to
your server and investigate the problem and then come back to you with
it either fixed or an estimate of how long we expect that it would
take. However, remember to leave time in your budget after the time you
authorize for this investigative work to cover any consultations that
you may wish to have about our results.
- We charge in 0.1 hour increments.
